Royal White Quinoa

Quinoa (Chenopodium Quinoa) is a native grain of Andes, therefore the growing conditions are the best of the Bolivian highlands regions, where the cultivated area has grown substantially.

Royal Quinoa’s origin dates back more than 5000 years and it was the main food of our ancestors. The most important places of Royal Quinoa production in Bolivia are in Oruro and in Uyuni Salt flat’s surroundings in Potosi located 3600 m. over the sea.

It has a vegetative cycle with a duration of 8 months. The planting is usually made in September, and the plant reaches its maturing in April to begin harvesting and threshing in May and June.

There is a variety of Royal Quinoa that are cultivated for comercial purposes and for export. White Royal Quinoa has a diameter between 2.4 and 2.8 millimeters. However there is a variety of seeds that are grown for specific purposes of consumption.
